Established in 1948 on the auspicious occasion of Vasant Panchami in Rajkot, SGVP has revitalized India’s traditional education system. Over the decades, it has grown into a globally recognized institution, fostering values, holistic learning, and selfless service.
In 1995, it was formally registered as a not-for-profit organization under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, operating today as Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Sarvajiva Hitavah Trust. SGVP also runs an internationally accredited school, ranked No. 1 in Ahmedabad and No. 4 in India by Education Today, affiliated with CISCE and Cognia (USA).

The Need for Not-for-Profit Healthcare in India
India spends only 2.1% of its GDP on healthcare, among the lowest globally. Public hospitals are overburdened (doctor-patient ratio of 1:1500), and private care is unaffordable for 65% of citizens. Rural India houses 65% of the population but has only 30% of healthcare infrastructure. Not-for-profit hospitals are vital to bridge this gap by offering affordable, accessible, and inclusive care, particularly in underserved regions.
