- During Procedure:
- The technician may attach up to 12 sticky patches called electrodes to the chest and sometimes to the arms or legs. The wires connect the patches to a computer.
- The ECG machine will record the electrical activity of the heart for a few minutes.
- The results are displayed as a graph.
- After Procedure: You may return to your daily activities after having an electrocardiogram unless you have a heart problem that needs immediate treatment.
- Post-test interpretation: Our on-site physician will review the results and send them to a remote cardiologist. An ECG may give results about the heart rate, heart rhythm, heart attack, blood and oxygen supply to the heart, and heart structure changes.
